A ten year analysis on the causes of death in U.S. combat fatalities found:
– “Approximately 25% of combat fatalities occurred in casualties with potentially survivable injuries.”
– “Almost 90% of combat fatalities occur in the prehospital phase of care.”
– “Approximately 50% of casualties who die after admission to a medical treatment facility were suffering from essentially irreversible hemorrhagic shock present at the time of admission.”
